A Peek Into One of My Hobbies

..Specifically, the act of drawing anime characters :D

If you read my previous post, you'd realize I'm an artist, and a picky one at that LOL Since Young told me to post some of my works here, well, I thought I could talk a bit about the things I use to draw too XD

This is my 2 1/2 months old Wacom Intuos3 6x8 graphics tablet. I've always wanted a good tablet but before this I couldn't manage my own money and only got my dad to buy me a Genius graphics tablet that is currently retired XD;; While CGing mid February I realized my ol' Genius had reached the end of its useful life and so decided to go on the market for a replacement. Wacom is the unchallenged industry leader in the graphics tablet business, so I chose it to ensure I won't be disappointed with what I buy XD The Intuos series is its mid-range graphics tablet range (low-end being Bamboo and high-end being the crazily-expensive Cintiq) and god I halved my bank account purchasing this ;_; I can say I'm one happy user though and Wacom really is in a league of it's own when compared to my previous flimsy Genius tablet. Here's the first piece of artwork I finished with it:

Well I sketched it on paper first, then scanned it and did the lineart and colouring with Adobe Photoshop CS3 XD For a brief background on the image, the girl is A-chan, a mascot I designed for the anime blog Anime Desho Desho?, which has sadly met its maker XD;; It was my first time linearting with a tablet and my Intuos did not disappoint at all :) In the first tablet image, you can actually see this artwork in progress LOL Don't stare at this too much, you'll start to see the mistakes =__=;;

Next is my set of Copic Sketch markers. Arguably the best markers to use for anime art too, god the brush function is to die for. Sadly I never got close to doing decent art with my markers, and they're currently collecting dust in a messy stack =X There are 49 markers in the picture and they didn't come in a set. I had to stand for hours at Kinokuniya Singapore and carefully choose which colours I wanted LOL Like the Intuos, getting the best in the market doesn't come cheap, as one marker costs SGD6. Times that with 49 markers and realise the beating my wallet took LOL

Oddly (maybe not considering the state of my room LOL), I can't seem to find my best marker artwork LOL It's an Organisation Chart for my Form 5 class where my classmates inexplicably voted for me to become the Head of... Er... Decoration, maybe LOL So I had to make the chart and believe me, you wouldn't have thought it was some Organisation Chart at first glance, because who draws Chinese anime females on those LMAO God my artistic sense sucks so bad, but hey, those classmates of mine voted for me and all I can do is anime art, so... You get what you paid for LMAO My friend told me some junior saw the picture before and commented that it was "impossible to be drawn by a student", which was... flattering, I guess LOL If I can find the goddamn chart I'll snap a picture and post it up XD

Well that's all I have to blog today. I have a shipment due next week so I might post some tech review or something LOL I'm also going to Thailand this weekend, so I might blog about it XD Till next time!
